Initially, I felt our o-line was doing a good job, despite Vandy's frequent blitzes. I could see Tebow checking down his receivers and actually getting time to see if they were open.
However, the o-line wasn't great and I felt they could have done a slightly better job at protecting...
As has already been said, GT doesn't really have a good defense.
I don't see Vanderbilt putting up more than 20 points, even if we turn the ball over a lot.
I agree, an obvious penalty, but not as bad as what Spikes did.
What bugs me about what Spikes did is that what he did doesn't surprise me at all. Spikes has a huge ego...and is a very good linebacker. From punting the ball after his pick 6 against LSU last year, jawing in Moreno's face after...
I remember him having something in his eye at the last play of the 3rd quarter, but I don't think it was eye gouged...I think he just got some dirty or grass in his eyes.
As for Spikes, I don't care if he was just retaliating. There's a difference between doing something everyone knows...
I think Spikes should be punished.
Even if it happens all the time, it doesn't mean Spikes gets a free pass.
Just because "nothing is illegal if you don't get caught" doesn't mean when getting caught, you can use that same statement as a defense.
Our DBs were fine. Sure, they weren't perfect, but both TD passes scored on us were understandable. The first one was where we had a LB (Doe?) on their TE (and Wright was helping cover Green) and the second one was just a good route and pump fake that fooled Will Hill.
I agree, until I see the game film myself, I am just making educated guesses as to our problems.
Honestly, I think it's a combination of many things that's leading to our offensive woes.
1. No more Pervin and Murphy
2. Offensive line not as good as last year
3. Receivers not stepping...
Maybe he runs too early because the pocket is collapsing? Hmmm...
It seems like yes, Tebow might run before checking down his receivers, but I think it's all hindsight. When the pocket collapses or the blitz gets to Tebow, it's like Tebow doesn't know when to get rid of the ball. But when...
