Bruce Bennett played safety for Ray Graves‘ Florida Gators from 1963 to 1965. Bruce held the team interception record for nearly two decades with 13 career INTs and was a 1st-team All American in his final year as a Gator. He is remembered as being one of the best defensive backs in the pre-Spurrier Era for his interceptions and key plays in upsetting Joe Namath's Crimson Tide. Despite his great play safety in the 1966 Sugar Bowl, the Gators lost against #6 Mizzou. In 1999, he was named to the Gainesville Sun‘s All-Century team.
