Lorenzo Phillips has officialy de-commited from the Florida Gators and will re-open his recruitment up. The outside linebacker has scholarship offers from LSU, Alabama and Tennessee.
Phillips previously was committed to Texas A&M last spring before giving the verbal to Florida in June. He ranked as about a Top 20 player nationally at his position and around a Top 150 player overall in the 2012 class.
The news comes after cornerback Brian Poole Jr. also of the Gators 2012 recruiting class, will take official visits to other schools including Notre Dame this Saturday.
While the very nature of the word "commitment" regarding the recruiting process is somewhat of a misnomer it may concern some in Gator Nation.
By their very nature, high school students are wishy-washy and this is to be expected. Though some might point to the timing as curious now that the Gators have lost three straight games.
But rest assured, the recruiting experts are still ranking the Gators in the Top 10 or higher for their 2012 recruiting class.
One other note: The Gators game November 19 against Furman at 1 p.m. will be on pay-per-view as CBS, ESPN, or the SEC Network did not pick up the game. Sun Sports will do the game and show on a tape-delay on Sunday for those not purchasing the live pay-per-view.
