Joseph Frederick Weary was born in Jacksonville, Florida. As a cornerback, Fred shined on Steve Spurrier‘s Florida Gators from 1993 to 1997. His senior year was his best–he was team captain, 1st team All-SEC (1996, 1997), and consensus 1st-team All American. His 15 career interceptions are a team record, and his 35 blocked passes are among the elite in Gator lore.
