Huey L. Richardson played defensive end for Galen Hall's and Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators from 1987 to 1990. He was first team All SEC in 1989 and 1990, when the team had very little else to celebrate during the probation years. In 1990 he was a team captain, and was Consensus All American. He was also on the SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years. By the time he graduated, his 26.5 quarterback sacks and 50.5 tackles for loss were amongst the top five all time for the Gators. Even twenty years later, those statistics have him ranked as third and fourth. Huey was the 15th overall pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1990 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the Steelers could not convert the defensive end to a 3-4 linebacker-end and his professional career did not last long. Huey was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2003.
