53 – Charlie Williams, LB (1974-77)
There is not a lot of information on Charlie "Charliehorse" Williams, since he played in an era before the Internet, and before the University of Florida won a lot of games. In order to be fair to the linemen who rarely garner any glory, I did make an attempt to find some good players not named Tim Tebow or Brandon Spikes. Charlie totaled 409 tackles during his career. The problem with that statistic is that everyone had over 400 tackles in that era. Either tackles were counted differently then, or the Gators spent a lot of time tackling. Maybe the Gator offense was THAT bad that the defense spent a lot of time on the field tackling.
EDIT: [Added information from G8B8R]: Teams back then were rather unlucky, but we still had some great players from this era: Wes Chandler, Jimmy Dubose, and Scot Brantley.
