Some observations following Florida’s 70-63 loss to LSU:
– Physically and mentally, Florida sophomore point guard Kasey Hill is wearing down. Hill had 5 assists to 4 turnovers and his assist-to-turnover is 10 to 9 over his last two games. As a team, the Gators had 10 first-half turnovers and finished with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 14 to 15. That lack of discipline hurts, especially playing on the road.
– On the flip side, Florida was opportunistic at times during the game, scoring 22 points off 15 turnovers. The Gators did a better job of pushing the ball in transition off LSU mistakes, which is something Florida coach Billy Donovan has been harping on his team in recent weeks.
– Florida senior center Jon Horford did some good things inside with 6 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. But Horford (2-8) remains limited offensively and at time scared to shoot when he’s under the basket. “Jon was wide open a few times under the basket,” Donovan said postgame. “He needs to put the ball up.”
