Carlos Dunlap - expectations

I've seen a few 2010 NFL mock drafts and they all have Carlos Dunlap going in the top 5, some think he could be the number 1 overall player taken. Everyone is expecting big things from Carlos. What are your expectations? Do you think he has a chance to break Alex Brown's single season sack record (13)?

With Jermanine Cunningham (whose projected to go to the 3rd or 4th round himself) on the opposite side, he'll have a chance. I think Dunlap will get double digits sacks. Draft position well depends on this season and how he does in the combine.

Cunningham might benefit from Dunlap more than Dunlap benefits from Cunningham.

I'm not so sure about this. Dunlap is a total beast, but Cunningham may actually have better pass rushing ability. Remember, in the Spring there was talk that Trattou might actually split time with Dunlap. I think Dunlap will benefit greatly from teams having to pay more attention to Cunningham.

I don't think Dunlap will break Brown's record for the simple fact that Dan McCarney likes to rotate defensive linemen in and out of the game to keep them fresh. Dunalp won't nearly have the amount of plays that Brown had.

I do think Dunlap has the chance to be the first DE taken in next year's draft. But a lot can happen by then.

You're right about him not getting as many opportunities as Brown, especially when we start pulling starters in the 3rd and 4th quarter of games because they're blow outs.

But Dunlap only needs 13.5 sacks to set the record. That's just over 1 sack a game. If he can grab 2 sacks against teams like Charleston Southern, Troy and Kentucky then he may have a legit shot.

True, it could go either way. Game to game, play to play, opposing teams will use different strategies to try to contain these two
