Yeah he had a great game on TV. I saw an interview he did after the game and he gave no hints as to who he was favoring. Right now it seems to be down to Auburn, South Carolina, and Florida. I really hope we can grab him.

"I picked Florida," Blakely said. "Florida is where my heart is. Last Wednesday I told Urban Meyer that I was committing to Florida and he was crazy he didn't know what to do. I am blessed, the process has been crazy with emails, phone calls and text messages but I am very thankful for this opportunity that I have. It means a lot to me and my Family loves Florida and for me to be Gator and play in Gainesville is special. I have great vision and balance and that's what separates me from other backs. Watch out because I am coming in with a great attitude and I am ready to play."

love it!!!!

I'm excited to see what the kid can do in the SEC. He's a little short to be a prototypical star RB in the conference but I still think he's got that extra something that can make him a star.

honestly though what does height have to do with being a running back? theres no advantage to being tall really. he's pretty thick for a high school kid.

In today's news, now that we are recruiting kids perfect for the spread-option we are switching to the pro-style.

Just kidding. We are looking good for next year. Now, about that pesky 2010 season...

It's not so much height, but more importantly weight/strength. You have to be able to break tackles to be a good running back in my opinion. There's only so much muscle mass you can hold on a small frame like Blakely's. The issue stays on my mind these days because we only have one running back who can break a tackle -- Gilly. Moody and Demps get tackled by their shoe strings every play. Demps has an excuse since he's a little guy but Moody is the one that baffles me.

plant was #1 in the country and look at blakely slice their ass up he's gonna be one of the best and elusive we've seen in yrs i think

The kid is thick. But he looks pretty maxed out on how much muscle his frame can hold. Rivals has him listed as 5'9" and 194 but it's reported stats, not verified. So in all actuality he's probably 5'8" and almost 190. That would make him the same size as Jeff Demps. Again, I'm not saying the kid won't be good. He looks great. But it's tough to break tackles from SEC defenders at that size. And we already have terrible stats on yards after contact.

Jones-Drew for the Crapuars is a small guy and he can move piles... and break tackles... he's small but man he's dynamite. very fun to watch. even though I hate the jags.. Man I wish they'd live this city already.

Meanwhile, this coaching staff has done SO well by, for and WITH all the talent, speed and depth it already has, the freshmen in particular. Our main problem is OBVIOUS: we just don't have ENOUGH new athletes to (NOT) put out there. Yes, watching the team thus far makes clear that our fine coaching staff needs new potential playmakers to sit on the bench.

(Look, I AM glad--and relieved--to see us continue to grab top recruits, but unless the major kinds of change we've talked about happen before next spring, I can't help but envision "more of the same".)
