Update: Muschamp commented on Finley's status on Wednesday, the coach said, "I'm handling that. We''ll work through that. That's where we are."
Interpretation: It's a wait and see approach, but Finley is still a member of the football team, and wasn't expected to play as it were.
--------
Dee Finely's felony charge of resisting arrest has been dropped, according to multiple reports.
Finley will now be charged with a misdemeanor of resisting without violence, and driving while suspended, also a misdemeanor. At first Finley was charged with third-degree felony resisting arrest with violence.
According to the police report, a university police officer by the name of William Sasser attempted to pull over Finley and his scooter Monday afternoon on campus after Finley went around a barricade set up near Ben Hill Griffin stadium. The officier grabbed Finley's wrist who then pulled away from he officer. Finley did not put up resistance once the officer pulled out a taser.
The UF police officer has been involved in several newsworthy altercations with students, including handcuffing one student for jaywalking.
The Florida Athletic dept. said Monday in a statement that the team would handle the matter. As of Tuesday evening there is no word on what if any discipline will give to Finley by the team.
From the information it looks like there are definitely two sides to the story, so UF may elect to let the legal process play out before handing out any internal discipline.
Muschamp will speak to the media on Wednesday morning, and will inevitably be asked about the arrest...Expect a "no comment", but we'll have to see.
