GAINESVILLE - "Urban Meyer used to sneak into the Florida basketball locker room in 2007 to listen to Billy Donovan talk to his team about handling sky-high expectations.
Maybe he took some notes.
Meyer finds himself in a similar position with his football team. The Gators are the overwhelming favorite to repeat as national champions, and they enter the season, which begins Sept. 5 against Charleston Southern, squarely in everyone's sights.
That means Meyer's biggest job isn't game-planning or play-calling, it's managing the hype and putting a stop to talk of an undefeated season.
"I hope you don't hear that again," Meyer said Tuesday. "Someone says, 'Is that one of your goals?' and I think a lot of times young people get baited into it. That is certainly not one of our goals. Absolutely not.
"Our goal is to get to Atlanta [for the Southeastern Conference championship game]. That's it."
