GAINESVILLE - "Carlos Dunlap brought athleticism and talent with him to the University of Florida in 2007.
His work ethic stayed behind in North Charleston, S.C.
"He was a dog," UF coach Urban Meyer said. "I wish I could say something different. ... He just wasn't a hard worker."
Meyer can say something different now. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound defensive end is nothing like he was as a freshman, or even last season, when he had 91/2 sacks, blocked three punts and a field-goal attempt and was named the defensive MVP in the BCS national championship game.
He's working his tail off, and the coaching staff is convinced that will pay off with a big season.
"He is much, much improved right now from anytime last year," defensive line coach Dan McCarney said. "He's working harder. His attitude is better. His practice habits are better. I'm really proud of him."
