He's taking his first pro steps, but the Vikings are excited about the offensive potential of their No. 1 pick.
Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson said the arrival of rookie Percy Harvin makes him feel like a kid who just got a new toy.

"Everybody knows he's a very explosive player," Jackson said. "I know the guys, we're going to love having him out here. Like a new toy, just want to try him out and get him the ball as much as possible."

The Vikings are using this week's Organized Team Activities to lay groundwork for how they hope to use their first-round draft pick from Florida. Media members got their first live look at Harvin on Thursday, and he seemed every bit as fast and versatile as advertised.
Said quarterback Sage Rosenfels: "He's got a lot on his plate and we have him as a Z-receiver, we have him as the third receiver in the slot. He does a lot of things and we're trying to make the most of his athletic ability, which he has a lot of. He's probably one of the best playmakers in this draft this year."

Rosenfels declined to give specifics but said the Vikings have added some new wrinkles to the offense to maximize Harvin's skills.

"There's some things that we've added that he's had success with and some things that you look around the league and the guys that are really good in the slot, the Wes Welkers and those types of guys," he said. "You try to do similar type of things that maybe he can do."
