The Florida State Seminoles didn't have a chance against the No. 1 Ranked Florida Gators from the moment they stepped on the field. They were completely outmatched - I've never see it this bad in all my years of watching Gator Football. The 37-10 final score doesn't reflect how badly the Gators beat up on the Seminoles. Urban Meyer was rotating defensive players more often than usual, trying to keep everyone fresh for Alabama. It was an awesome final home game to go out on for guys like Tebow, Cooper, Spikes, Stamper, James and the rest of the senior class.
With the win, the Florida Gators have now improved their win streak to 22 games - and the Gator Senior Class has proved to be the winningest class in SEC history. I think they've lost something like only 6 games in four years of play. That's just incredible.
Those of you at the game or watching on televsion probably noticed the Gators wearing their new Nike Pro Combat uniforms. I believe these are only one-time uni's, so don't get too attached. I loved the helmets and the pants - also the way the gloves had a gator head logo on them when you put both hands together. You can see more pictures of the uniforms on our discussion forums.
There's no denying that Tim Tebow was the talk of Saturday. ESPN College Gameday was on site in Gainesville and featured a 3-4 minute segment just on Tebow. He's one of the greatest college players of all-time and everyone wanted to watch him play in his final home game. It was an amazing game for Tim. He threw for 221 yards, rushed for 90 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. On the receiving end of his touchdowns were Aaron Hernandez (twice) and Riley Cooper.
Other player notes:
- Demps had 7 carries for 106 yards
- Rainey had 8 carries for 73 yards
- Joe Haden and Adrian Bushell has interceptions
- Hicks has 2 sacks
- Dunlap had one sack
The Gatprs now have to get ready for the SEC Championship Game on December 5th. Alabama struggled against Auburn on Saturday and Ingram got knicked up, but it's still going to be a tough game. Bama has the #1 defense in the country, so it will be a test for Tim and co. to move the ball.
