Fox Sports Mock Draft

I know this won't be accurate but something to check out.

Haden 7th
Dunlap 17th

2nd round
Spikes
Tebow
Hernandez
Pouncey

We all know there is no such thing as an accurate mock draft. It is all speculation. Rewind many years ago when people actually wanted to draft Ryan Leaf ahead of Peyton Manning because Leaf had the more prototypical offense, delivery, and defense reads. Manning was too jumpy in the pocket, lacked velocity of Leaf, and was as mobile as a brick wall. Years later, you know the story.

I am not saying these guesses are way off base, but other mock drafts all have Spikes in round 1, and there is a mix of mock drafts with Tebow in late round 1, snagged by a team early in round 1, or snatched in early round 2.

I have Timmy going in round 2, possibly round 1 if scouts warm up to him. The scouting reports I agree with tend to compared Tebow to Steve Young or Byron Leftwich and avoid references to the terms "wildcat", "tight end", and "fullback" while acknowledging that he needs a year or two to learn the NFL from the bench (which most rookie QBs actually need, but do not get).

Not every rookie QB needs to wait (Marino, Big Ben)

Agreed. I'm no expert, but I would want Tebow to wait. Marino's offense at Pitt was more pro-style, so the transition was easy and he already had a very quick release and good footwork. Big Ben actually came from what I believe was a less pro-style offense in college and does have some Tebow-like tendencies, so that would be a good comparison, as would Byron Leftwich. Unfortunately, all those comparisons--Marino, Leftwich, and Roethlisberger--all came from air-it-out offenses. Maybe the discriminator will be the Wonderlic. Big Ben played at Miami (OH) with very little HS experience, played in a high-octane passing offense, and scored well on the Wonderlic IIRC. Big Ben was a "project" because he was from a small Div I school and lacked experience as a QB, but really scored well on the Wonderlic. If Tebow scores well on the Wonderlic, maybe we can assume he is smart enough to adapt to the NFL as quickly as other QBs and is not a 1-3-year project as I had mentioned.
