Frazier agrees to terms with Lakers

Former Florida guard Michael Frazier II will get a shot in preseason camp this fall with one of the NBAs most storied franchises.

Frazier agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday with a small guarantee. According to the Los Angeles Times, the deal is for two years at about $1.4 million with a $50,000 buyout if Frazier doesn’t make the team out of camp.

But it’s a shot for the former UF sharp-shooter who went undrafted after declaring for the NBA draft following his junior season last March. Frazier played in the Las Vegas summer league with the Golden State Warriors, but wasn’t picked up by the Warriors after going 0 for 11 from beyond the arc.

Frazier’s agent, Matt Ramker, tweeted Sunday night: “Lakers are getting one of the best rookie shooters and a tremendous worker. Don’t need an apartment, Michael Frazier sleeps in the gym.”

A two-year starter and key cog on UF’s 2014 Final Four team, the 6-foot-5 Frazier averaged 12.1 points and shot 38.8 percent from 3-point range during an injury-plagued junior season. As a sophomore in 2014, Frazier shot an SEC-best 44.7 percent from 3-point range while averaging 12.4 points per game.
