Florida sophomore guard Michael Frazier joined select company in scoring 37 points on Tuesday night against South Carolina.
In making a school-record 11 3-pointers, Frazier became the 102nd player in UF history to score 30 or more points in a game. Of the 102, only 12 have come in 18 seasons under current head coach Billy Donovan. The reason? Donovan stresses scoring balance. Four UF starters are averaging double figures in scoring this season, and four starters last season averaged double figures in scoring.
Frazier’s 37 points tied Joakim Noah (who scored 37 on March 1, 2006 vs. Georgia) for the most by a single player under Donovan. Tony Miller holds the school record for points in a game with 54 against Chicago State on Feb. 29, 1972.
Here’s a look at UF’s 30-point games under Donovan. Note — Anthony Roberson had three 30-point games for the Gators under Donovan, while former UF point guard Nick Calathes had two 30-point games.
