This used to be a major rivalry game, back when both programs were atop the SEC. With UT's issues back home in the trailer park, they will be lucky just to scrounge up enough players to pull the wagon down to Gainesville. Butch Jones took over that trashfire that is UT football, a team that is starting basically an entirely new offense and a halfway new defense. Butch Jones' introduction to SEC football was the Gators' 2010 51-24 Sugar Bowl beatdown of his Cincinnati Polecats. Although this Gator offense is not in danger of racking up 659 yards of offense on UT, their porous defense must be relieved that the Gators do not have an offense like Oregon's. We can only hope that the sting of that loss at Miami has fueled a fire within the Gators and that they take UT to the woodshed.
The Gators will be looking at a couple familiar faces across the way. UT running back coach Robert Gillespie was a running back for the Gators from 1998 to 2001. UT wide receiver coach Zach Azzani was the Gator receiver coach in 2010. UT head coach was Florida's b***tch in the 2010 Sugar Bowl game.
Florida leads the all-time series 23-19. UT has not won since 2004.
