GAINESVILLE — "While only four defensive linemen will take the game's first few snaps, fans won't be able to differentiate between Florida's starters and third stringers if position coach Dan McCarney has his way.
Assuming they have enough healthy bodies, the Gators will try to rotate 12 players on the defensive front this season to keep the unit fresh in the fourth quarter, McCarney said after practice Thursday.
"(The Southeastern Conference) is so fast and so physical, and I've never stuck my head in the ground and said, 'We're only going to need four, five, six guys here, and we'll go and win the championship,' " McCarney said. "We need a lot of guys, and it's already shown in practice. Some guys get nicked; somebody's got to step up."
