"Just two games into his Florida career, true freshman Trey Burton has already earned the respect of his coaches and teammates. Recruited as a quarterback, the Venice native has filled in at other positions to get on the field.
Burton scored in his first game in a Gator uniform on a two-yard run against Miami (Ohio).
“Trey, he’s the hybrid player, he can do it all,” said starting QB John Brantley. “You see him at quarterback, you see him at tight end, you see him with his hand on the ground. He’s just a very valuable person to this team. He’s happy with it. He’s doing a great job. And to see such a young guy as a freshman come in here and do that, that’s awesome. He’s going to have a great career here.”
