Beginning tonight at 8 p.m. the Gators could become the fifth school in NCAA history to win a title in football, basketball and baseball, joining Cal, Stanford, Michigan and Ohio State.
The Gators are in the championship series of the College World Series if you have't heard. The Gators will play the South Carolina Gamecocks in a best of 3 series at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. Game 2 of the best-of-three games will be Tuesday at 8 and Game 3 is necessary is Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET.
I think by far this will be one of the most watched College World Series by the casual sports fan in a while. There is plenty of buzz surrounding it this week on ESPN.
Heck even the Governors of S.C and Fla. have a wager on the series. From South Carolina barbecue from Hudson's Smokehouse in Lexington will be awarded to the governor of Florida should the Gators win and Kermit's Key West Key Lime Pie will up for grabs for the S.C. governor.
The Gamecocks are going to be tough to beat, they haven't lost his tournament and have won 14 straight tournament games dating back to last seasons CWS title.
The Gators have their best on the hill tonight in Hudson Randall (11-3, 2.24 ERA). South Carolina will send up a freshman, righty Forrest Koumas (6-1, 3.07). Earlier this season however Randall pitched a complete-game 5-hitter in a win over the Gamecocks.

-Chris Martin, not the Coldplay one, but the one who never played a down last season for the Gators football team and was arrested earlier this winter on a marijuana charge, will be transferring from UF.
As we have come to expect, Will Muschamp was like 'see ya' in his brief press statement.
"Chris and his family have indicated that it might be the best for him to be closer to home. We wish him nothing but the best of luck," Muschamp said according to a statement.
Martin, was a redshirt last season. He was not a lock to start for the Gators at defensive line (or the Buck position), but there is now officially a depth issue on the defensive line, if there wasn't one already.
Martin was a friend of defensive back Janoris Jenkins who was also arrested for pot charges before ultimately leaving the program.
Martin was also a serial social media abuser and I wonder if one particuliar tweet infuriated Muschamp to the point where push came to shove and the coach didn't want to deal with Martin for the next four years.
After Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel was fired and Urban Meyer's named naturally was brought up in the conversation as the replacement on Columbus.
Martin Tweeted "Committed to espn? Lets see if the other analyst stress him out so bad he has to spend time with his family in COLUMBUS now.. #truthhurts."
Martin has since deleted his @cmart4634 account on Twitter. Martin also posted on his facebook that he had been dismissed from the team back in March, only later to say the post was a joke.
You wonder.
-It seems to be a fad among NFL players to admit they were approached by agents or hanger-ons or actually violated NCAA rules during their collegiate days.
Former Gator Channing Crowder said recently on his radio show on WQAM in Miami "I’ll say hypothetically I don’t have any of my Florida jerseys. There were some Jacksonville businessmen who liked my play.”
-The Gators are zoned in on 2012 commitment Mitch McGary out of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. McGary is a 6-foot-10 forward who is ranked in the Top 10 of next year's calls by many recruiting services.
We'll have more on Thursday, hopefully a recap on a CWS Title.
