"On his Sunday television show, Florida coach Urban Meyer said his wife, Shelley, reminded him after Saturday's game that the most improvement comes between the first and second games. But does Meyer actually think there's something to that old coaching cliche? “It sounded good at the time, so I said it.I was on TV and had to say something positive,” Meyer said Monday. Veteran football beat writer Robbie Andreu decided to break it down and see if there is a pattern of improvement between the first and second games under Meyer. One thing that jumps out is the Gators have been consistently strong in openers under Meyer (until last Saturday). In four of Meyer' first five openers, the Gators had zero turnovers (and no issues with shotgun snaps).
