This one would have been a tough one..........
Shyatt staying
Associate coach Larry Shyatt is staying at Florida after deep discussions with North Florida about the head coaching position there.
“My wife, Pam, and I, we mulled it over,” Shyatt said. “It’s probably about as close as I’ve come to leaving since I’ve been here. But we looked at it and realize that we’re blessed with the situation we have here.”
Shyatt was hired at UF in 2004-05. Last April, Shyatt turned down an opportunity to interview for the head coaching job at Western Kentucky to stay in Gainesville.
On the surface, the UNF job doesn’t seem as attractive as Western Kentucky. But Shyatt has close ties with recently hired UNF athletic director Lee Moon. Moon hired Shyatt to become head coach at Wyoming and nearly hired him to replace Billy Donovan at Marshall.
“That was a factor and their president, John Delaney, certainly made an attractive offer,” Shyatt said.
