Tonight's game against Georgia will be as big of a test as the Gators have faced since they defeated Vandy and Kentucky in back-to-back games two weeks ago.
Florida won the last meeting, 104-91 in double OT back on Jan. 24.
Chandler Parsons could play but won't start. Billy Donovan said that will depend on how things go with his bruised left thigh.
"What would maybe prevent him from playing a lot would be if the pain became an issue and he wasn't able to do the things physically that he is normally able to do," Donovan said Wednesday.
"He's going to need to be able to guard, he's going to need to be able to defend, he's going to need to rebound the ball. He's got to go out there and play."
With Parsons limited, the Gators will need a strong effort offensively from Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker to pick up the home win against the Dawgs.
On the bright side, and you know this is how Donovan is thinking, this a great opportunity for freshman Casey Prather to get some experience and show his stuff. Prather will likely start against UGA.
Also look to see how the Gators rebound in this game.
Boyton said this week that with Parsons limited, "The biggest challenge is basically rebounding cause you know, me and Erv, we so used to getting out and just probably depending on Chandler and Alex and Vernon (Macklin) to get the rebounds."
Florida is looking for its sixth straight SEC win which would be
its longest streak since running off 11 in a row to start SEC play
in 2007.
As of Thursday Florida is a No. 3 or No. 4 seed depending on how the given bracketologist does things. But Florida has the potential to be a No. 2 seed.
-If the Gators can hold on to the SEC regular season title, and do OK in the SEC tournament, look for Billy Donovan to be named the SEC coach of the Year.
-If you haven't seen Steve Spurrier shirtless at Daytona drinking a Coors on a top of an RV-brace yourself.
-Tim Tebow did a Q&A about his upcoming autobiography and life in Denver. He says he's ready to compete with Kyle Orton for the starting job with the Broncos.
"I feel that I’m definitely ready to compete for it. I’m excited for that challenge. I’ve worked extremely hard this offseason. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to lead this team and try to win games. I don’t feel like it’s even close from last year to where I am now. In fact, it’s not even close to where I am now from the end of last season. I’m much more prepared."
-According to most NFL Mock Drafts, the top Gators selected will be offensive linemen Mike Pouncey, who is projected as a late first-rounder.
-Recruiting: Will Muschamp has 5 commits already for the 2012 class, there hasn't been a lot of activity in the last couple of days but if anything happens over the weekend, I'll have that info on Monday along with a recap of the Gators hoops games against UGA and Kentucky.
