Horford returns to UF for class

Hawks' forward Al Horford has returned to campus at the University of Florida this summer to take a pair of classes, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He's working towards a degree in telecommunications.

"Doesn't surprise me that he's here," Florida Coach Billy Donovan said. "He's gifted and grounded, about as good a kid as I've been around. He's the type of kid that this is going to be important to him."

"He's not messing around. He's a good student and a real part of the class," said Annie Sugar, who's teaching the Television and American Society course. He carried a 3.3 GPA into the summer session.

"I did have some second thoughts [about registering]," Horford said. "But I needed to get away from Atlanta, and I really wanted to start out right. I felt if I had waited a few years to start summer school, I might not be as willing to do it as I am now."

That is awesome! I wish more of our players would do this. It's definitely some good news for the 04s when lately all we've heard from them is Noah's arrest.

It's nice to see former players coming back to UF to finish their degrees like Emmitt Smith did not that long ago; props to Al Horford for going back to class in the off-season to work on his.

To me he seems like the best all around player out of the 04s. By that I mean he just seemed to be more grounded and worried about his future other than basketball a smart guy, he could always get hurt and be done with b ball then where does he go? no where
