I said remove Dunlap from the team

Thanks to Dun@$$ (or dunbitch or whatever you want to call him like Dun:poop:, Dunf---er, Duna--hole), We lost. OK the offense wasn't the same from last year and the DBs played like it was 2007. Maybe it wouldn't matter if Dun@$$ played regrading Bama's running game. It just doesn't help the other players mentally when an impact player a few days before a big game does something stupid. He's the winner of the Andre Smith bonehead of the year award. I understand Bama losing to Utah thanks to Smith, his replacement got hurt early in the game and Utes D hit JP Wilson early and often though their D allowed 31 points.

Dunlap is not the reason we lost. It was a team effort. To be fair, our DEs were breaking the Bama line, but no one in the middle was covering the slot and we were getting beat deep. Dunlap would not have helped there. Dunlap cannot be blamed for poor offense execution either. We made the right adjustment for Dunlap's position, but not anywhere else. If I had to blame anyone it would be Urban Meyer.

I'm a little scared for Dunlap. Is he still going to class? I'd be scared if I were him, to be seen in Gainesville this week.

I don't think he's the reason we lost, but I'm sure what happened this week affected his teammates and made them wonder if they could win without him. And his presence was DEFINITELY missed in our defense. The Gator Defense is famous and is key to our game, but we couldn't do anything last night. so....

I am praying for him (okay, y'all don't make fun of me, or say rash things about that please :))

I agree w/you Escambia. Gator coaches were soundly out coached.
gtrgrl, pray for dunlap. I'm sure the Tebow's and the Meyer's have him in their prayers as well. He needs help. The right thing for him to do in my opinion is not go into the draft and stay w/ the Gators. Rebuild, get healthy physically and mentally.
It would be huge for him as a person. Face the consequences of his actions, not ignore them for the almighty dollar and try and forget what happened. It won't happen. I hope he is getting some good counseling.

My son says that he thinks Dunlap is the biggest reason we lost. 1) for a mental factor and 2) for a loss of pass rushing because without him, McElroy was able to pass freely, there was no pressure on him. Our line couldn't stand up to Ingram's power and running ability.
Our offense might have done bad, and might have only scored 13 points, but our defense might have held bama to 13 or less. And there would have been less pressure on Tebow to score 3 TDs in 10 minutes.

I don't blame it all on him, because the whole team looked horrible. But would the defense had been better with him? Yes it would have.

Please don't fall into that "blame the coaches" trap; our kids played sloppy amd weren't executing as they should have. THEY'RE the ones to blame for the loss, NOT the coaches.

Removing Dunlap from the team permanently would be wrong. He didn't break one of the core values of the team and it was his first offense, so there are no grounds for dismissing him. After the loss on Saturday, I only hope that he realizes the consequences of his actions and will walk the straight line from here on out.

If he and his teammates want to be treated like men, then they need to "nut up" as Coach Meyer says and start acting like men. That being said, it's time for the team captains to start looking out for their teammates.

I'm not blaming the coaches--I am blaming THE coach. THE coach that wrote a book on how his coaching style is supposed to prevent a lot of the crap that we have faced with arrests, on-field antics, and lack of preparation. From there, I blame the players, but the coaches are the ones who need to develop these boys into men. Team captains only have so much impact. Our offensive captain can only wave his arms and yell "Come on!" so many times. Our defensive captain's legitimacy as captain is in question due to an on-field incident. Special teams? I don't even know what happened to the Urban Way of playing special teams on Saturday, or the Urban Way of playing Gator football. We need to get back to the Urban Way against Cincy or we're going to get embarrassed. Again.

I still doubt that our team was as hungry for that win as Bama was, and I can't blame Coach for that. It wasn't his fault that we lost, our guys have nobody to blame but themselves for the sub-par way they were playing and their lack of focus, as well as their nonchalant attitude heading into this game. The coaches can only do so much in getting these kids ready for gameday; after all, these guys are not nursery-school infants who need their hands held all the time. They're young adults, and need to conduct themselves accordingly.

I guess I am biased because of the way the military has brought me up. Accountability ends at the commander, in this case, the head coach. The team captains are captains, not generals or combatant commanders. We all know that the coach can't get on the field and throw a football or make a tackle, but he is the one who gets paid millions of dollars, to include several thousand that I personally invested in that school, to get kids to become men and win games.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. The head coach is where all accountability lies, but not all blame.
