I think I got a nickname for Matt Elam

The one I came up with on the other thread on this subject (which, as I explain there, I somehow never saw in the FIRST place)--and though I like yours too Lf--but the one I came up with independently is "Hurricane", as in Matt "Hurricane" Elam. Have a feeling it would have caought on--and MAYBE we save it, then, and keep it for a "newer" Gator who can use it here with us FOR A FEW YEARS. We've got several possibly worthy candidates on defense: The best right now may be Easley...How does "Hurricane Easley" sound?

No. No nicknames involving hurricanes, tomahawks, bulldogs, or trailer parks--nothing to remind us of our rivals.

Escambia94, (laughing)
Damn--is there already a "Hurricane"? OH--THAT SH*THOLE DOWN SOUTH!!! I should have figured that...but regardless, I was just "going with it", since the idea had been raised, and was TRYING to come up with one-of-our-own...BUT I AM WITH YOU, E-...Not only "Nothing that reminds us of our rivals...", but really, NOTHING that has ANYONE on our TEAM standing out, for any reason and/or in any WAY other than by how they play when they're in there with their TEAMMATES, OK?!!
How does THAT sound? That's how I REALLY feel, when I step back and think about it...Sorry, I just lost sight of all that for a moment.
From now on, I go back to using "nicknames" as MY way of making fun of and/or putting DOWN players, mostly players (and sometimes coaches, of course) on other teams. Yeah, THAT'S where MY wise-ass creativity is headed back to from now on--in fact, I'll try to infuse everything with some bit of THAT kind of fun, wherever possible if I can...God knows we all could use it--between personal boredom, and:
NO GATOR FOOTBALL!...For weeks' 'til just the one game that is "Win, of course--or you're ALL a bunch of losers!" and no real larger reward for Victory--Gee, that sounds like fun--and then, well, sweat out the last month before NSD (more important than the "Plus One" Game , from our POV, let's face it OK?), then what, Dead Time of rumors and 3rd-hand "reports", Spring Football not much better--WOW, SECOND-hand reports until "The Orange and Blue Debut" (sounds like a suburban dinner-club's musical, don't it?), then no one but Dillman knows what's going on from April-to-June...
Hmm...I feel better already...How about you?
Escambia94, (I've added quite-a-bit to this, below AND above here, and thought I'd let you know, in case you'd already read the much shorter "Version 1"...)
(This upbeat, "have some fun with it!"-stuff is gonna be tougher than I realized...Maybe once we get through and PAST 12/21/12 will help somewhat, anyway--and Gators: Try to spend next Friday with someone or ones you most wanna BE with or, failing that, at LEAST other humans that day, just-in-case..."You get the reality you deep-down expect"--and it is shared-expectation that most influences "Shared Reality", that quantum-construct that we all create inside that "Big Schroedinger's Box" that we pick and, in so doing, "collapse the Big Waveform" (Does ANYONE follow ANYTHING I am saying here, at this point? Do I?)...
...Me, I expect the Gators to win the 2013 National Championship--and the one AFTER too: Yes, to begin a period of dominance that will have us involved at or near the top for a time that will come to be seen as a "Golden Gator Age", we will take the LAST "Plus One" and the FIRST "Four Team Playoff" to announce our "Return" in an amazing way--SO this DAMN well better NOT be "The Friggin' End of the World", see what I'm sayin'? Now, WHO'S WITH ME ON THIS?!!)

Seriously Hurricane over Leatherhead DRU2012? Leatherhead is a gator and according to one version of the TMNT from the Everglades.
Leakfan12,
(lol) I see your point, Lf--I was just going for your basic Florida-flavored disastrous-event, arriving on the scene to "blow y'all away" kind-of-thing--I truly forgot about the "Obnoxious Losers" (isn't THAT their new team-name?)...I mean, this STILL leaves us all kinds of more original future possibilities as per Escambia94's (I admit valid) reservations here--like maybe, well, "Swamp Yeti" (OK, lame), or...ya know, this isn't so easy after all, right off the top of my head.
Anyway, I've added quite a bit to my (part humorous, part WEIRD) reaction to E-'s response above. Read at your own risk...

Oooorrrr: we could get literary, which here would mean "Eloi"--the creatures who live underground, big muscle-bound man-eaters who run the post-apocalypse underworld for the big-brained overlord(s) in H.G.Wells' "The Time Machine" (Can't believe I put the wrong Wells-book up...REAL "literary" on MY part...)(...Btw, thanx for the "Twitter handles"), Escambia94, : Maybe share some more? I really like the idea/option of "following" our players that way...if you have concerns, send on "Alert"?)

I will list the Twitter handles I know. I also have a friend that has most of the Gators on Facebook, but I think that is a bit much.

Actually, kind of dumb on my part--Never even thought of just checking their names on Facebook...Of course, nowadays they all tend to have "handles" and keep updating on Twitter--Facebook is slower, more laid-back and intimate, definitely not "IT" (and btw, as I noted above, "Mr. Literary" here dropped the wrong Wells-title: It was "The Time Machine"--just in case someone was suddenly interested in reading a book...)

Come to think of it, you're right. E-...Where YOU been "sleepin'", NaffGutts, ?
And Btw, Escambia94, I thought YOU were particularly AGAINST these nicknames-for-players--or was it just the re-use of OTHER team's players' nicknames that you were so adamant against? Just wanted to get this straight, once and for all...Would hate to make one them there "Gator fox-paws"...
Anyway, in the name of "Keep It Simple, Stupid", "SANDMAN" it apparently is.
