"Louis Murphy had his patience tested on NFL Draft weekend in 2009 when he had to wait until the fourth round, the 124th overall pick by the Oakland Raiders, to hear his name called. The second-day selection came 117 picks after the Raiders chose Maryland receiver Darius Heyward-Bey as the No. 7 overall pick.
The expectations were for Murphy to come in and play a small role, giving breaks to Heyward-Bey and maybe using his speed to complement his fellow rookie teammate on deep passing patterns.
By season’s end, Murphy had turned the tables. He started nearly all of Oakland’s 16 games and finished with 34 catches for 521 yards and four touchdowns. Heyward-Bey logged nine grabs for 124 yards and one score in nine games."
