"Protecting John Brantley’s blind side was a bit of a concern heading into training camp, and Thursday’s injury news certainly didn’t help ease that concern.
Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer confirmed that offensive tackles Xavier Nixon (the starter) and Matt Patchan (his backup) will miss the season opener with injuries. There’s “something” wrong in Nixon’s right knee, and Patchan had a pin put in his fractured right wrist.
The injuries mean the Gators will shuffle some linemen away from their natural positions, which shouldn’t be too tumultuous considering the Gators regularly cross-train their o-lineman at more than one spot."
