"In the last eight months, Jeremy Brown's back would give out every time he tried a drill. Bulging discs are relentless. But nothing would stop Brown's quest to feel liberated on Wednesday, even if only for one play.
Lining up on Carl Moore, the redshirt freshman cornerback gave him a little space before accelerating. Moore ran a slant route and thought he had a clear path for Tim Tebow to find him, but Brown sprinted, dove full body with both hands stretched out and broke up the play before landing safely on his stomach. Safeties coach Chuck Heater yells to his unit "there's JB," as if to warn his secondary that a playmaker will soon be aiming for a spot.
If it wasn't for that back injury, Brown might not need to be gunning for anybody's spot. He might have been a starter alongside Joe Haden and -- get this -- ahead of Janoris Jenkins, last year's Freshman All-American corner."
