"The Gators switched red-shirt freshman Jordan Reed from quarterback to tight end, but he continues to work out at his former position during training camp.
Reed (6-3, 240) has been lining up at quarterback in wildcat and goal-line formations.
“He’s handling it well,” tight ends coach Brian White said. “We’re putting a lot on his plate, but we’re trying to be smart and not overload him. But at the same time, he’s such a dynamic athlete. We as coaches get selfish and we want to put the ball in his hands as many times as we can. He’s going to have a major role on this football team. It’s very evident.”
Reed, a lifelong quarterback until now, is not much of a talker. Coach Urban Meyer probably loves that. In Reed’s time with the media this morning, he stuck mostly to lines like “I’m just working hard.”
