JACKSONVILLE, FL -- After leading the JU football team to its first Pioneer Football League championship and a six-win improvement from a year ago, Kerwin Bell was named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award -- the national coach of the year honor for the Football Championship Subdivision.
After a 3-8 record in his first season, Bell guided the Dolphins to a 9-3 record and the first league championship in the 11-year history of the program this year. The six-win improvement is the biggest in the country, with JU entering the Gridiron Classic on a seven-game winning streak, which is tied for the third longest active streak in the country.
