This isn't necessarily the "Gameday Thread"--Escamia94 will have something to say about that, whether he starts a proper one or simply alters the title of this one.
My main reason for even posting this is to note my growing sense that our "end-of-season/burst-of-hope" may be short-lived--indeed may already be OVER!
When all this strange foot-dragging began to manifest with respect to the transfer portal, after all the promises and protestations regarding our supposed plan for an aggressive run there upon its opening, I began to get this growing feeling, the return of The Dread that has afflicted us at about this same point in the season each year since Billy arrived.
The one thing I kept telling myself at first was, "No, let's just wait and SEE..."
But it deepened, and though I have clung to its shrinking remnants, the way this whole Pyburn drama has played out (culminating with his actual LSU signing earlier today) has pushed me to the brink.
With Searcy's loss and continued torpor in our portal NON-activity, I now find myself, in the face of us for a number of quite logical reasons being favored to BEAT Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl this Friday, somehow expecting us to go out, reverting to "pre-bye-week" disorder, finding ways to lose that game--and in so doing thus beginning our very public slide back to irrelevance (having just so recently BARELY climbing out of it!).
Oh, the sad and depressing SHAME OF IT ALL!
(If I sound like I am overplaying the melodrama self-satirically, GOOD! For THAT is exactly the note I was going for.)
You see, I am SICK of this emotional roller coaster this guy, or rather "THESE guys"--Napier and Stickland--have had us on.
Sick to DEATH of the whole damn THING!
I don't think I can face a whole 'nother SEASON of it. So if I get the idea that is indeed what we are in for (and we will KNOW, have it confirmed one way or the other by early October in 2025), I will by then be LEADING the "Fire 'em BOTH (and blow up the whole damn thing!)"-Parade by then.
I promise.
(PS As usual I hope--and reserve the RIGHT TO--"gladly be wrong".)
