Anyone else suddenly finding their excitement and enjoyment of this season's Gator football gone by the wayside?
Can't quite remember when I felt this way, at least not this early in the "string". Only thing to do is to turn attention to what needs doing now and in the weeks and months ahead, and try to rally others to raising our voices and play our part in seeing that it is done.
First thing is to get the word OUT, get folks to face the realities that seem so clear to us, in general create the conditions in which the necessary changes can and will occur. This IS within our power, a process that has already begun.
There'll be a lot of anger and denial to navigate and respond to between here and there. Remember this: NO ONE IS ABOVE THE PROGRAM. Not even Urban Meyer. Our ultimate loyalty is to that program, NOT to any individual.
What's left of our faith in the Head Coach rests on all he did to rescue our program in its LAST time of crisis and take it to new heights.
Now we must look to the future, and his part in that must be judged by what he actually does from this point forward. His recent activity has raised more questions than solved anything. If he won't even acknowledge the problems facing the program he is supposed to be in charge of, we can expect more of the same. Is that acceptable to us? Are you content with what you're seeing on the field? Do you feel we're on the right track? It's time these and all the other questions were asked and discussed publicly, for as many of us as possible to raise our voices and press for change that SHOULD have happened organically, in a healthy program.
It shouldn't have come to this, but it has. Because I love the Gators, I can't just turn away, hunker down and "wait it out"--for God knows how long.
I ask you all to join me in the only thing we have to fight for change: our intelligence, insight and PASSION for this program and the school it represents.
