As Florida junior center Vernon Macklin sat the entire 2008-09 season, fans were left wondering if the 6-foot-10, 240-pound transfer from Georgetown could have made a difference inside.
Florida's undersized frontline resulted in a team that ranked last in the Southeastern Conference in both rebounds (34.3 rpg) and blocked shots (2.69 bpg.) So naturally, expectations are through the roof for Macklin, who will be eligible to play next season after sitting out due to NCAA Division I transfer rules.
"I don't really listen to all that but I think (with) the guys we've got here, the team will get a lot better," Macklin said. "It's not just one guy. It's going to be all of us."
