"Who were those guys in Florida uniforms last week? The uniforms and helmets say they were Gators but considering the number of mistakes and lack of production, even Urban Meyer thought he was looking at another team.
“I think there were so many new faces out there and new guys playing new positions,” Meyer said following Thursday’s practice as the 6th-ranked Gators (1-0, 0-0 SEC East) began winding down their preparations for Saturday’s encounter with USF (1-0, 0-0 Big East). “That didn’t look like us.”
Meyer is hoping the team he sees on the field Saturday looks a lot more like the team he thought he was sending out on the field last week. Meyer said “didn’t anticipate what happened” against Miami (OH) when the Gators slogged through a mistake-filled four quarters for an unimpressive 34-12 win over the Red Hawks in the first game of the season."
