Midseason Overreaction: Coaches on the Hot Seat

The term “hot seat” gets overused to mean “a coach in danger of being fired soon”. I will redefine hot seat to mean “coaches who have lost the fans and are in danger of losing support from the administration and richest boosters”. Coaches I think are on the hot seat:

• Jeff Hafley (Boston College)
• Mario Cristobal (Miami)
• Tony Elliott (Virginia)
• Dana Holgerson (Houston)
• Dave Aranda (Baylor)
• Tom Allen (Indiana)
• Danny Gonzales (New Mexico)
• Ken Wilson (Nevada)
• Andy Avalos (Boise State)
• Billy Napier (Florida). Napier is too expensive to fire before 2026, but half the fans have already checked out. The Bull Gators and remnants of Gator Guard better think of some fundraiser options if they want to get rid of Napier before year 5.
• Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M). The Aggies cannot afford to fire Jimbo Fisher. His termination cost finally drops below $10M in 2030.
• Sam Pittman (Arkansas). Pittman has already deleted his social media as noise continues to grow in the system.

"Checked out" is right:
There were already a lot of empty seats at Homecoming in the Swamp yesterday; Unless things take a clear turn for the better soon ticket sales will continue to suffer and ultimately mire us in a DEEPER DEFICIT.

...and by the way:
Watching Georgia just brush aside, in the process DESTROY the Kentucky team that just a week earlier had made mincemeat out of US only further established how far our once great program has fallen.
The hand-wringing sense of panic and denial out there among fans is the result. This is no quick or easy "FIX"!

Surprised the Miami coach is there but after their GT game, probably not that much of a surprise.
I think ADs are tired of firing coaches every few years, so they tolerate a lot more blunders. The market for college coaches has changed recently, so more coaches are only taking these jobs with long contracts or expensive buyouts. Mario Cristobal has a 10-year, $80M contract. It does not make financial sense to fire him until 2027 or 2028. To make matters worse, the Miami Hurricanes' sugar daddy, John Ruiz, might not be able to afford to fund a buyout if federal investigators find him guilty of fraud.

This well-explains a LOT of situations around CFB currently.
However, in Cristobal's case it LITERALLY goes DOUBLE...Didn't he pull the same boner when he was with Oregon??!
