No 1,000 yard back this year

Before the year started, I thought the Gators had potential to have two 1,000 yard backs. Rainey and Demps have been great with the carries they've gotten, but they just haven't gotten enough to reach 1,000 yards.

With only 2 regular season games left, Demps has 577 yards and Rainey has 438 yards (Tebow leads them all with 604).

Maybe next year.

Next year I expect a couple 1,000-yard receivers with Brantley under center. This is assuming we get our receivers back from injury, recruit a high school prospect, and have a reserve WR or backup RB step up as receiver. Call me crazy.

I think both guys will get more carries next season though I doubt one of them will make it to 1,000 yards unless you count rushing and receiving.

I was being facetious. I don't really think all three of those minor miracles will occur next year--healthy, converted, and immediate-impact receivers. I actually foresee a 3-loss season next year, if we are lucky. We play at Knoxville, so we have to worry about getting shanked or robbed. We play at Tuscaloosa without Timmy. We play SOW in Tallahassee. Throw in Appalachia State and hope we avoid being the butt end of another upset. I have not seen who will declare for the draft, nor do we know who will be playing immediately out of high school, so a lot could change to make me be less pessimistic. I have faith in Brantley, but I don't have faith in the players that will be leftover to carry the legacy. Maybe in a couple years we'll get back to dynasty status.
