No more hype for Hunter

"Injuries severely limited Hunter in his first season in Gainesville, but the 6-foot, 308-pounder from Buford, Ga., is healthy and eager to prove that he can be as good as his coach touted him to be.

"It was a rough first year," said Hunter, who was a Parade All-American and a five-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com after a stellar career at Buford High School. "A lot of things set me back."

Hunter enrolled in May and brought with him a disk problem in his lower back. That kept him from doing much before practice began, but he fought through that and was able to get on the field against Hawaii, Miami and Ole Miss. He didn't make a tackle, and then he suffered an ankle injury.

Those two injuries, plus the emergence of Lawrence Marsh and Terron Sanders, kept Hunter off the field for the rest of the season.

Those things also made Hunter think about leaving, but some support from several coaches, especially Mickey Marotti, UF's director of strength and conditioning, kept Hunter in Gainesville."
