Notebook: Gators understand mission

After Florida's 31-30 loss to Ole Miss on Sept. 27, the team vowed to not take any more opponents lightly.
That will be put to the test Saturday as No. 4 Florida (7-1, 5-1 SEC) heads to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt (5-3, 3-2 SEC) at 8 p.m. If UF wins, it would clinch the SEC East.

Since the Arkansas game, the change in this team's calibre of play and their candor is obvious - they've become more mature and more focused since the Ole Miss loss and the sloppy Arkansas game.

A huge difference between this team and 2007 is a higher level of maturity. We were a very young team last season, and it showed; sure there were mistakes made in the UGA, LSU and Michigan games that could have made a difference for us, but a lack of experience accounted for our 9-4 finish.

There's more of a sense of team unity on the 2008 Gators, and except for the episodes involving Ronnie Wilson and Jamar Hornsby there have not been as many players as there were last season with disciplinary problems.

No we CAN'T take any remaining team on our scheduile lightly; 2008 has been the Year of the Upset and we weren't immune from that. I'd like to see us go up to Nashville and secure the SEC East, and then focus on winning BIG over South Carolina and the SOW to better our BCS ranking.
