IMHO the sports writers at the "Orlando Slantinel" seem more like an off-shoot of Bleacher Report working under the guise of a major Florida newspaper, but the writer of this article who happens to be the UCF beat writer posts this article: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college/os-notre-dame-urban-meyer-1211-20091210,0,5446296.story
Personally, I hope that this time ND got it right in hiring Brian Kelly to replace Charlie Weis. They made a vain effort to try and lure Urban Meyer away back in 2004 when they knew that he was in serious dialogue with Florida, but their political move in firing Ty Willingham at the time they did backfired on them - and they were forced to settle for second best, in part due to their tactics.
Let those Domer fans whine all they want about Meyer losing interest in the Irish, but people's tastes and attitudes sometimes change - it's a fact of life that we can't always get what we want. They seem like that small faction of Gator Nation who continues to cry over spilled milk and still bitch about Steve Spurrier not being re-hired to replace Zook. As a Gator fan, I see this as Meyer keeping his word that he intends to stay with the Gators and affirming his commitment to UF football. If Brian Kelly succeeds in South Bend, let's see if they'll be singing a different tune.
