According to Southeastern Conference director of men’s basketball communications Craig Pinkerton, the NCAA rulebook classifies Florida-Georgetown as an “interrupted game.” Both teams could agree to resume the game during the course of the season at another location with Florida ahead 27-23. But given travel budgets and the tight schedules of both schools, that’s not likely. Florida basketball spokesman Denver Parler said there are no discussions in place yet to attempt to resume the game.
Pinkerton said the NCAA Tournament selection committee could take into account Florida’s first-half performance against Georgetown if the Gators end up on the bubble for an at-large bid. Florida held Georgetown to just 35.7 percent shooting in the first half.
