With all the positives, I hesitate to broach this here and now--but then I REwatched accelerated versions of these last three momentous games, and feel that I have little choice but to point out the obvious:
Billy still has a long way to go as a gameday playcaller.
So many poor-concept situational calls.
Again and AGAIN a complete breakdown in time-management at games' crucial junctures.
And, above all, game after GAME (including the closing victories, DESPITE the now-known ultimate game-outcomes): The absolute FAILURE to do ANYTHING with the "four minutes IN/four minutes OUT" that bracket the halves...I SWEAR, game in/game out, our Coach shows NO sign he has any coherent plan at ALL during that pivotal "time of decision".
To get a near perfect one-game commentary on everything I am describing, I commend y'all's attention to "The Gator Nation Football" podcast overview of the Ole Miss game, entitled "GNFP Film Review--2024 Florida Gators Offense vs. Ole Miss Defense"...The presenter's commentary well-describes all this and more as it plays out in that particular game--but you will recognize its sadly frustrating familiarity all season long!
ALL of which, even WITH the admitted TORRENT of good news we have lately welcomed (and I have continued to personally acknowledge and ENJOY), must still be addressed somehow if we even HOPE to see the kind of progress that all of Gator Nation now dares to envision headed its way in 2025.
Which, to my mind and many others OUGHT to indicate the stark utility of adding an OC--at the very least to help with situational field awareness and clock management--and frankly, HOPEFULLY with in-game play-management TOO!
