Punt Returner

According to the St. Petersburg Times, the Florida Gators may try Joe Haden, Janoris Jenkins, Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey at punt returner. Can I ask why?! I would never risk running Haden and Jenkins out there with the punt return team. Brandon James does an excellent job back there. I can understand Demps and Rainey because they're RBs and aren't as valuable as our CBs will be.

Maybe Meyer is doing it because he knows his players might have to return punts at the next level ?

Meyer has something up his sleeve, and knowing how "psycholocigal" he can be in his strategy, I'm sure one of his intentions is to throw the opposition for a loop - that, or he has some stort of trick play on the book.

Rainey did a good job while he wasback there. That fake kneel punt return against Georgia was one of my favorite plays of the year.

I don't want to see returns taken away from James, especially during his senior season, but if Meyer is working with some weird trick plays and formations like he always does with punt & punt return, I'm all for it.

I think UM is just giving his player opportunities to diversify and get them the ball. That's his philosophy--get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. Why have one playmaker at punt returner when you can have several? We want opponents to not only fear our RBs and receivers, but our punt and kick returners as well. We want our opponents to fear seeing our players on the field at any aspect of the game.
