"Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Donovan McNabb are still in the early stages of building a relationship.
Throughout organized team activities, minicamps and training camps, Shanahan and McNabb have worked together in an attempt to succeed this season. But Shanahan and backup Rex Grossman already know each other well. Both were members of the Houston Texans last season.
With McNabb sidelined by an ankle injury, Grossman is scheduled to start Friday night against the New York Jets at New Meadowlands Stadium. Shanahan does not expect Grossman to attempt to shoulder a bigger load with McNabb out, "just execute the offense; get the ball in the right spot. When we have a bad play or something, don't make it a worse play. Survive the down and get us into the next one."
