Should Alonzo Johnson be on the Gators Ring of Honor?

No. The criteria:
  • Heisman Trophy Winners (Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel) (Tim Tebow will be eligible in 2014)
  • Former UF All-Americans Inducted into Pro Football Hall of Fame for Accomplishments as Players (Jack Youngblood, Emmitt Smith) (Lomas Brown will be eligible if he makes it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame)
  • Former UF All-Americans Who Are NFL Career Category Leaders (Emmitt Smith – rushing)
  • Collegiate Career Category Leaders
  • Coaches with at least 1 National Championship (Steve Spurrier) (Urban Meyer will be eligible in 2015)
  • Coaches with at least 3 SEC Championships (Steve Spurrier)
  • Players with 2 or more consensus All-America honors (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, AFCA, FWAA, UPI) who have also been named National Offensive/Defensive Players of Year (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, ABC, AFCA, FWAA, UPI) (Wilber Marshall) (Kevin L. Carter was DPoY '93, but only had one Consensus All American. Ellis Johnson was DPoY '94, but was never Consensus All American. Alonzo Johnson was 2-time 1st-team All American, but not Consensus, and he was not PoY.)
The next Gators on the Ring of Honor will be Tim Tebow, Urban Meyer, and maybe Lomas Brown.

There's no way (at least not now) that I want Urban Meyer up there. Then again, Spurrier up there.

Rules are rules. Whether we like the carpetbagger or not, he won twice as many national titles as Spurrier. If Meyer had not wussed out, he could have won a third SEC championship as well (maybe not with John Brantley, but imagine with Jeff Driskel running the spread-option!).

I think Lomas Brown killed his chances of the Hall when he admitted to letting Scott Mitchell take a hit though his chance wasn't that great before that.

I think you are right. Just based on the criteria, he has a chance. If it does not happen, then it does not happen. The NFL HOF is full of worse characters than Lomas Brown.
