Stone sticking with Gators

News Bot
The re-recruiting is nearly complete.

Florida 2015 signee Keith Stone — a 6-foot-8 forward from Deerfield Beach, confirmed Wednesday night via Twitter he’ll honor his Letter of Intent and play for the Gators next season after a meeting with new UF coach Michael White.

With Stone and forward Kevarrius Hayes in the fold, Florida will have at least two of its four 2015 signees on campus when the second summer session starts in late June. Florida’s staff is still awaiting word on whether North Little Rock (Ark) standout shooting guard KeVaughn Allen will stay at UF. But according to several reports, Allen is expected to ask out of his LOI.

Dickerson (51 ESPN Top 100) and Allen (54 ESPN Top 100) are the two highest-rated players in UF’s 2015 class. So losing both would be a blow, though Hayes (68) and Stone (80) also are talented top 100 prospects.

Barring any other defections, here’s a look at the roster that White will work with in his first season at Florida.

Kasey Hill, pg, jr., 6-1

DeVon Walker, sg, rjr, 6-6

Devin Robinson., sf, so, 6-9

Dorian Finney-Smith, pf, rsr., 6-9

John Egbunu, c, rso., 6-11

Alex Murphy, f, rsr, 6-7

Chris Chiozza, pg, so, 6-0

Brandone Francis, g, so, 6-5

Kevarrius Hayes, f, fr., 6-9

Keith Stone, f, so., 6-8

Schuyler Rimmer, c, rso., 6-11

The roster includes 10 scholarship players and one walk-on, Rimmer, who was a scholarship player at Stanford before transferring last season. He won’t be eligible to play until the end of the first semester in mid-December, per NCAA transfer rules.

Obviously, the key will be for newcomers Egbunu and Francis to make an impact and complement Hill, Finney-Smith and Robinson. That could very well end up UF’s starting five next season, depending on how well Walker recovers from a torn ACL. Walker showed promise off the bench in 2013-14 before sitting out last season, and will likely battle Francis for the starting shoot guard spot next season.
