When it comes to left-handed athletes, the laws and customs are pretty well defined.
Lefties don't play shortstop or catcher but they're more than welcome to pitch. You won't see many of them on the PGA Tour but they make great shot-blockers in the NBA. Word has it that Rafael Nadal, who plays tennis left-handed, isn't half bad.

When it comes to football quarterbacks, the picture is a bit murky. Southpaws have excelled in the college game, winning Heisman trophies and national championships. But when it comes to the NFL, the jury is out. For every lefty who's become a star, there's a long trail of disappointments. As one of the greatest left-handed college quarterbacks of all time—Florida's Tim Tebow—steams toward next year's draft, NFL teams are going to have to figure it out sooner rather than later.
