After the Bulldogs QB released a pass during the Auburn-Georgia game Saturday the Tigers defensive lineman lowered his helmet into the back of the unsuspecting Murray - after a five yard, unimpeded run-up.
Fairly was called for a personal foul on the play but remained in the game and later delivered another hit on Murray that knocked the quarterback out of the game.
On that play, after eluding a Georgia offensive lineman, Fairley lead with his helmet as he lunged into Murray’s knees. The resulting blow knocked Murray out of the game with a knee injury. It did not appear on the play that Fairley was pushed into Murray but his shot on the Georgia quarterback wasn’t as egregious as his earlier, appalling personal foul. (But what possibly could be?)
In addition to his personal fouls, Fairley was at the center of an ugly scuffle between the teams as Georgia tried to run out the clock during Auburn’s 49-31 victory. Eventually, in a bizarre scene, Auburn assistant coach Trooper Taylor was summoned onto the field to assist in the removal of Fairley from the game.

Yeah, I've been reading a lot of heat about his play against Georgia. It was absolutely disgusting. It nearly caused a major brawl at the end of the game. The SEC needs to step in and do something. An example needs to be made. It wasn't just one play that got out of hand. It wasn't just two. Fairly was making dirty hits left and right all game. A major punishment needs to be leveled. And I pray that his draft stock is hurt as well. As a former high school player from the state of Florida I can understand heated situations on the field. Sometimes you can get out of control and do something stupid. But you quickly realize it and get grounded. But this guy was extremely reckless and didn't seem to care one bit.

The officials were negligent as well--even the announcers couldn't believe it when it kept happening with little effort to get things under control beyond throwing a couple of flags. That "scrum" at the end of the game was inevitable, by then.

Oh. So that's what everyone is talking (actually Facebooking) about. He should be suspended for spearing Murray in the back with his head up. The stadium should charge extra for the fight at the end.

Man that is a brutal hit. I am shocked that he only got flagged during the game. I think the refs were waiting for him to take out a gun before they ejected him...

Murray is fine. Little banged up and sore, but overall he is good.
