Todd McShay SUCKS!!!!!

If any of you had followed my "journal" post in the 2010 NSD thread on the Recruiting forum, you probably got a few snorts and giggles out of my digs directed at Todd McShay.

As far as I'm concerned he's in the same league as the Birmingham Blowhard (aka Slimebaum) and that bozo at CBS Sports, Tim Brando - they love to shoot their mouths off just for the sake of drawing a listening audience and racking up ratings as opposed to reporting the news with impartiality, maturity and substance.

If it wasn't for the fact that McShay was trying to keep the rumor mills spinning with his BS crap about Coach Meyer "possibly" not returning this fall, I would have enjoyed ESPNU's coverage a little more. I don't know what his beef is with the Gator football program, but based on the way he attacked Tim Tebow last week during Senior Bowl week and his questioning why Florida pulled in such a strong recruiting class today, it's obvious he has an agenda.

Luckily Joe Schad, who happend to be in Gainesville today reporting on NSD, refuted McShay's nonsense and stated (per OGGOA) that Coach Meyer plans to reiterate his intention and resolve to return to the Gator sidelines this fall - I'm glad he made McShay look ridiculous.

Urban Meyer's main responsibility ISN'T appeasement of the media's every whim, and I don't know what part of that idiots like McShay, Slimebaum and Peter Kerasotis fail to understand. Meyer doesn't seem to be the type to be trifled with, and if he doesn't have time to grant ANY member of the media an interview, that's his prerogative. If they don't like that, tough.

They all need to grow up and cut this childish crap. They do their chosen profession no justice - and IMHO McShay ought to be ashamed of himself.

I used to like Todd McShay over Mel Kiper ... but ever since McShay started talking trash about Tebow and basically killing Tebow any chance he gets I have completely opposed him and won't read any of his columns. The guy is a jerk and has no credentials to do what he does.

I like McShay

I also wonder how in the world Meyer was able to pull in such a strong recruiting class despite alleged uncertainty about whether he'll be back or not.

Twice yesterday Meyer stated that he would be back on the sidelines this coming fall, and he previously stated that he would coach in the spring. If any of these kids had any reason to second-guess him, or if he was indeed seriously ill, they wouldn't have signed with Florida.

The way some of the media talk, you'd think Meyer was being followed by the Grim Reaper. Naturally the rumor mills spin, and rival coaches fill these kids' heads with notions. I'm just glad Meyer and his assistants set the record straight with our new recruits and dispeled all the negative stuff and other nonsense.

exactly he has been reassuring them all along

If I were a recruit, I would take Meyer's potential to take a leave of absence during the season seriously. I'm just afraid Meyer swears to these recruits he'll stay, but then leaves later on. Meyer is certainly capable of changing his mind. Sure, it's different to change one's mind to come back, rather than leave a program, but it'd still be something I consider. Also, the fact that many of our top recruits play defense probably explains a little, too (ie even if Meyer leaves, their future isn't as compromised since they play defense).

Or, the worst-case scenario could occur. Maybe UM is gravely ill and collapses because he has not heeded the doctor's advice. When he goes on leave, I hope he really gets better or else he may not be able to groom this outstanding class.

either way if i was a recruit it would go to UF urb or no urb because urb is like tony dungy he builds the team up to win for years, 2 teams dungy has build up and another coach has taken them to the sb, i think we r bowl bound with or without urb just bcuz of the structure he has put together

Urban is a man of his word. He wouldn't fabricate anything just for the sake of winning over recruits as other coaches would dare to do.

Let me ask you this: Would you rather hear the truth "straight from the horse's mouth", rely on information you hear from some so-called "source" whose reliability is questionable, or be easily swayed by rumors you hear from an opposing camp?

I believe that he'll be back for spring practice and on the sidelines this fall. If his illness was serious, I highly doubt hge'd go out on a limb and announce that he'll be back that soon.

Meyer's word is fickle, there's no denying that. Maybe he has a good reason to flip flop so often, but if I were a recruit, I would be wary of promises Urban makes.

Am I calling Urban a liar? Heck no, but it's quite possible his life is a little bit more uncertain than another coach's...that's all I'm alluding to.

Why be so wary? If he definitely wasn't coming back, it would only be fair for him to be on the level with these recruits and say so - and if he wasn't, no way would we have enjoyed the success we had on Wednesday.

Luckily they did ask questions if they had doubts or were confused over the rumors they were fed by others, and he gave them straight answers refuting all the negative stuff. As far as I'm concerned there's no such thing as a dumb question, and only the dumb questions are the ones that don't get asked.

You and I both know that rival camps talk a lot of trash and fabricate stories, and that the media often overexaggerates things for the sake of attracting an audience with no regard for the damage they could be doing or, at times, bothering to verify their information. I'm not very trusting of the media at all, and that's why I'm highly critical of them. That isn't going to change, especially with types like McShay, Finebaum and others of their ilk writing and saying what they do.

URBAN OHIO ERA BEGINS
The only guy I really like is Mike Mayock on the NFL Network. He seems like the only who will admit error in evaluation. McAssHat is just annoying, he seems to go against Kiper almost like a son trying to out due his father or something.
